MIREIA FARRES - MAHLER 5 VIDEO
"Mireia Farres Bosch is an incredibly talented musician! She communicates all that music embodies: beauty of tone, phrasing and nuance, the widest range of timbre and an understanding of bel canto style - all this expressed with a complete range of emotions. She has the ability to utilize and adapt all of these qualities to whatever repertoire she performs. Mireia is truly an artist of the first magnitude."

Mireia Farrés Bosch, Principal Trumpet of the Barcelona Symphony, is not even 30 years old - but she has already had an amazing career! She started playing in the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia at age 13. By age 17 she had received an Honor Award in both trumpet and chamber music at the Manresa Conservatory in Barcelona, studying with Joan Arnau.
She then moved to Boston and studied at the New England Conservatory from 1998 to 2001 with Charles Schlueter and John McNeil, where she graduated with the Distinction of Honor of the Brass Department. Mireia then returned to Spain, where she became the Principal trumpet of the Granada Symphony, a position she held until 2004, when she was appointed Principal Trumpet of the Barcelona Symphony (OrquestraSimfònicaiNacional de Catalunya).
In addition to her duties with the orchestra, Mireia is also the trumpet teacher at the Escuela Superior de Música de Barcelona. She taught at the Conservatorio Superior de Palma de Mallorca from 2004 to 2006, and has been giving recitals with her accompanist MercèHervada since 1998.
Mireia's charming, lively personality can be seen in her warm smile, and heard in her rich, exciting trumpet sound. She is interested in new music, and enjoys premiering new pieces for trumpet and chamber groups.
