JOHN HENES INTERVIEW

Dave Monette has said countless times that John Henes is a master teacher and healer, and the work he accomplishes in one or two sessions takes most other teachers years or even decades to cover - if they ever get to it at all! John's visit for our 25th anniversary party, and the eloquent video interview he gave us during his visit, bear this out perfectly.

John Henes and Dave Monette have worked together both as trumpet maker/trumpet player and Alexander Technique teacher/student since the mid-80's.

John has taught the Alexander Technique both privately and in workshops for more than 25 years, and is certified by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique in London, England and is a member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique.

In addition to his positions teaching the Alexander Technique at the music schools of Northwestern and DePaul Universities, John has had a private practice working with musicians at all levels of performance who study with him from all over the world. Many of John's Alexander students are members of major symphony orchestras around the world, including the Chicago Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic.

Previous to his full time teaching career, John taught part time while working as a top freelance trumpeter in Chicago. John played principal trumpet with the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, and most recently was a member of the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra trumpet section.

John has taught the Alexander Technique extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, and is available for clinics, master classes, workplace seminars, occupational workshops and private teaching.
