NEW TUBA AND TROMBONE MOUTHPIECES!

We have two new low brass mouthpieces that are exciting for us to finally announce: The all new, completely redesigned #7 SLAP tuba mouthpiece, and the new TT5 SHALLOW SLAP tenor trombone mouthpiece!

TT5 SHALLOW SLAP

This new trombone mouthpiece was developed for New York’s Mike Boshen. Mike visited several years ago, and we sat around the computer and lathe for several days, drawing up designs and cutting prototypes. We came up with a screaming lead orchestral design on the lightweight blank, with an unusually large backbore and an unusually "SLAPPY" cup design. The mouthpiece is VERY fast responding, and unusually stable, too. Thanks to Mike for his patience and great play-test chops!

#7 SERIES TUBA MOUTHPIECES

Several years ago I visited a NY POPS rehearsal in New York when Jim Pugh was soloing with the orchestra. During a rehearsal I kept focusing on how great the tuba player sounded… just effortless to listen to, and a fantastic sound! I went up after rehearsal to just tell him how much I enjoyed his playing, and as it turns out it was Scott Mendoker. Steve Dillon (owner of Dillon Music) had been telling me about Scott for years! After some back and forth via email, telephone and Fed Ex - plus some computer design time and a couple days of cutting test pieces, we had come up with both a new CC tuba mouthpiece design and a matching, complimentary Eb tuba design.

This rim size is wider than the largest previous Monette tube mouthpieces by a little bit. The rim contour is a very comfortable medium rounded shape that still has plenty of bite to the inside edge. Both these Eb and CC tuba models have exactly the same rim, but the cup shape on the Eb mouthpiece is naturally much smaller.
