In August, 2009, I visited Marciac, France to hear Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra perform at the annual Marciac Jazz Festival. Also attending the event last summer was Luigi Beverelli, a Monette trumpet client who is also Wynton’s Facebook manager and webpage video editor. Luigi and I became instant friends! He and Wynton were singing the praises of Facebook, and they suggested I should have a Monette Trumpets Facebook page to document the development of Monette instruments and the day to day activities at the shop. I said I would give it a try for a week. Luigi set the page up for me between rehearsals right there in Marciac, and my first posts were made from southern France!

Now, one year and 6,000 fans later, we now have 250 informal shop videos posted on the page! We document new horn development and prototype work as it happens. We film fun shop visitors playing our latest equipment. And we even post spontaneous videos I shoot of various shop activities as we design and customize each month’s new horns. If you ever wondered what it is like to visit our shop, just hang out on the Facebook page and you can see an online, day to day diary of events at the shop!

Not currently on Facebook? YOU DON”T NEED TO SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING! The page is a PUBLIC page and ANYONE can watch the videos, view the photos we post and read the text entries. It is all there so you can see first hand, every day, what makes our approach to custom instrument design and construction so unique!
