SCOTTY BARNHART CD RELEASE PARTY

Scotty Barnhart has performed more small group jazz concerts at our shop than just about anyone else - and we love him! Scotty’s first solo CD, Say It Plain, was released last summer. The lineup of musicians appearing with Scotty on this first solo recording is staggering! Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, Ellis Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Herlin Riley, Todd Williams, Leon Anderson Jr., Bill Peterson, Rodney Jordan, Bruce Barth, Rick Lollar, and Jamie Davis join Scotty for this amazing first solo release.

Soon after its release, the CD made it to #1 most added in Jazz Radio. The CD made it up to #3 on the national jazz chart for radio airplay - and got great reviews from all quarters. The cuts with Wynton featuring outrageous African drumming and the vocal blues performed with Clark Terry are especially memorable. Scotty also recorded the tune he wrote last summer for Dave Monette, "JNANA," named for JNANA Yoga. Scotty played his AJNA Bb and a PRANA FLUMPET on the recording.

Scotty also visited the shop as we were finishing up Charlie Schlueter’s decorated presentation SAMADHI C trumpet – right on his BIRTHDAY! Lew Soloff was in too, and we had a great time in the shop hearing Scotty and Lew play impromptu duets. Check out the link on the left for a video of the two of them playing together in the shop!
