Introducing the New Lightweight 2000LTJ Bb Jazz Trumpet!

Our latest Bb instrument is designed for jazz use only - and it is VERY fun to play! This new model has the response and intonation our instruments are known for, while helping the player produce a sound and mood reminiscent of some of the best small-group jazz of the 1950's.

Dave Monette had this design in the back of his mind for years, and our good friend and client Mark Isham finally inspired us to make the prototype instrument. After using our FLUMPET and our prototype Bb Piccolo trumpet on various projects and recordings over the years, Mark told us at last year's 2000 Monette Brass Clinic that he was ready to make the switch to a custom Monette Bb trumpet. He asked Dave what Monette trumpet he should consider, and Dave's answer at the time was that we hadn't built a model that would be optimum for Mark's needs… YET! Dave told Mark about the design he had wanted to make for years, and when Mark's name came up on our waiting list we had a new model Bb trumpet.

The first prototype was a winner! Dave took it down to L.A. for Mark to check out in his studio against his best horns from the 40's and 50's, as well as against the modern recreations of these instruments he sometimes used. The 2001 LTJ does more of the same of what the old horns do - with greatly improved response, intonation and ease in the upper register! The sound shape is a bit wider than conventional jazz horns of that era, without sounding heavy or thick. This gives an even broader range of sound and texture for players used to playing lightweight instruments to draw from. An added bonus was the upper register, which is at least as easy as our popular 2000LT model - and the response all over the horn is much more forgiving for tired or out of shape chops.
If you would like to own a state-of-the art, lightweight trumpet designed exclusively for jazz work, then we hope you will consider our new 2001 LTJ!
