Jim Pugh and Tony Kadleck in concert at our shop!

Virtuoso recording artist and composer Jim Pugh was joined by New York recording artist Tony Kadleck for a small group jazz concert with the Gary Hobbs Trio at the Monette shop. Jim came in to town a few days before the concert in order to finalize the design of our new TS-11 small-shank trombone mouthpiece. Jim and Dave also got some time in hiking up around Mt. Hood.

Tony Kadleck came into town the day of the concert, and both he and Jim proceeded to blow the roof off the Monette shop! Local jazz trumpeter Paul Mazzio also sat in on a few tunes, and the crowd was on its feet many times during the show.

Tony plays our model B-5L lead trumpet mouthpiece, which was designed for him by Dave Monette. Tony also uses a custom "legit" mouthpiece made with the same rim. In addition to using the TS-11 as his main mouthpiece, Jim plays a variety of other Monette mouthpieces, including the TT-5 on large shank tenor and the BT-2 on bass trombone.

Our TS-11 small-shank trombone mouthpiece, which Jim inspired, is hard to keep in stock. Demand is high for this long-awaited model! We will introduce the new TS-6 model in December for players who are looking for the next larger size rim and cup still made on the small shank configuration.

Thanks to Jim and Tony for a great concert, and for their help and use of Monette mouthpieces!
