C1-3 S5

When news of our "SLAP" mouthpieces spread, Calvin Price was among the first on our list to test several new variations of our C1-5M series mouthpiece. Although Calvin enjoyed the benefits of the new "SLAP" cup designs, he again approached Dave Monette to see how it could be made even better. To our surprise, the solution was to change the rim contour for Calvin, despite that he only played on 1-5 rim mouthpieces for nearly two decades!

This new mouthpiece is an update of the original Monette mouthpiece rim design, and has the exact same "SLAP" cup as the C1-1 S5 model. It is great for players who like large size rim and cup mouthpieces with a round rim contour, but not as round as the C1-1. You can hear Calvin demonstrate this mouthpiece playing principal trumpet with the San Diego Symphony, as well as in several film score recordings.
