Maestro Fou Ts'ong  with Joseph and Kenneth

Tom with Kenneth, his wife Sonia, and Joseph after the rehearsal.

Monette Operations Manager, Tom Raney, traveled to Hong Kong and had a chance to visit with long time client and friend Kenneth Fung and Joseph Ngan.  Tom had the pleasure of sitting in on a rehearsal of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, with Kenneth and Joseph.  They sounded excellent with Joseph using a C997 and Kenneth on his AJNA II C.

Tom, dazed and confused, wonders where he can get some ice-cream...
A picture of heaven...  A sit-down Häagen-Dazs?  We found one in Hong Kong and it was awesome!

Jazz client Ryan Kisor at a small club on Amsterdam and 99th in Manhattan in December.  Ryan plays the braces off his B-993 Bb trumpet with a new B-2 mouthpiece!  Watch for two new albums from Ryan, both to be released Spring 2000.

Professor Steve Jones and Rick Holland had Dave in for a clinic at Western Michigan University recently, and of course there was Indian food afterwards!  Dave has known both Steve and Rick for over 25 years (Rick went to high school with Dave in Portage, Michigan).  Steve is Professor of Trumpet at WMU, and Rick teaches in the Jazz Studies Department.

Janet Griffith (Professor of Trumpet at University of Wyoming) and Dave at the Monette shop.  Janet had a rather lengthy E-mail correspondence with Dave over several months.  She then decided to give Monette mouthpieces a try and is now just about ready to take delivery of her new Bb and C trumpets.  These matching 993 models will include decorated finger buttons made by our favorite goldsmith, and Portland artist, Tami Dean.

Thanks for playing Monette equipment, Janet!

Long-time client Rich Johnston visited the shop recently, and we updated his vintage Monette C trumpet (serial number 367).  When Rich first ordered this instrument, he was in high school and studying with Charlie Schlueter.  Now, Rich practices law for a day-gig, and plays on the side, when time allows.  Thanks for your continued patronage, Rich!

Ben Kibbe came by to have his AJNA Bb adjusted, and to try our more elaborate instruments.  Ben is an upcoming jazz player, and seems to have no problem playing any Monette instrument.  He took to the RAJA like he had played it for years, and we look forward to building him one!
